Barco

Selection Process: Test, Personal Interview

Pattern of the Test

The general aptitude test emphasized speed and accuracy.

The technical test focused on data structures and algorithms, particularly graphs, strings, general mathematical formulae, arrays, and hashing, with two medium-level questions and one easy question.

Success in this stage required strong problem-solving skills and fast performance, as ranking was influenced by the time taken to solve problems. Preparation involved practicing questions well before the test and having a ready reference note for common libraries and functions.

The coding test lasted one hour and was conducted with two interviewers simultaneously

Group/Case Discussion

Technical Interview

It included problems on strings and arrays, in-depth questions on Python (as the candidate’s major language was Python), and project-related questions discussing the brief, motivation, and challenges faced.

Additionally, some behavioral questions on teamwork were asked.

HR Interview

The personal interview lasted 45 minutes and covered a broad range of topics:

  • General perspectives on computers and technology.
  • Differentiating oneself from peers.
  • How one would present themselves in front of the Barco director.
  • Hobbies and learnings acquired over four years of college.
  • Conflict management experiences.
  • Difficult problems solved and the approach taken.
  • Opinions of professors and friends about the candidate.
  • Reasons for choosing Barco.

The interviewers were looking for a genuine passion for software engineering. Honest answers were crucial, and it was beneficial to prepare responses to common questions in advance and practice delivering them confidently.

Being ready for unexpected questions also helped. This preparation aimed to demonstrate the candidate’s true interest in the field and fit for the role at Barco.
